With our still newly invaded Lionfish in Barbados’ waters we are now starting to see them more frequently/regularly and catching them for the pot now a few times a week.  So many more to go, and go, and go but we are making our effort  and getting ready to enjoy the bounty on the grill :)

They are found in nutrient poor tropical and subtropical ocean waters. Trichodesmium is a diazotroph; that is, it fixes atmospheric nitrogen into ammonium, usable also for other organisms.

As seen from the picture below with the brown lines and dust on the sea surface.  It forms blooms, which can be extensive on surface waters and led to its widespread recognition as “sea sawdust/straw.
