There is nothing as comforting as having the right mask for the dive.   However, all new masks share an evil, they all fog.  Some masks are better than others but experienced and new divers alike will tell you that nothing can sour a lovely dive as much as a foggy mask.  Tricks for keeping the masks clear: Rinse the mask with defog immediately before entering the water, keep the mask off your forehead (never mind it means you are in distress), limit the amount of fresh sunscreen you have on your forehead.

For brand new masks leave tooth paste on the lenses overnight and rinse off just before the dive (gives an extra minty fresh sensation as a bonus).  Depending on the mask some help to place them in the freezer overnight and others to soak in a bucket of diluted dish soap.

Finally, once you find the perfect mask, hold onto it!
